1. Introduction
Welcome to ChatToPDF ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Service").
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account via Google OAuth or email/password, we receive and store your email address, display name, and profile picture URL. Authentication is handled by Supabase, and your password is never accessible to us.
2.2 Usage Data
We track the number of document exports you perform each day solely to enforce usage limits (free-tier: 20 exports/day). We store your subscription status (Free or Pro) and a daily usage counter. We do not log the content of your documents.
2.3 Document Content
When you use the export feature, your markdown content is transmitted to our backend server for conversion. This content is processed in memory and in temporary files that are deleted immediately after the converted file is returned to you. We do not retain, read, or analyze your document content.
2.4 Chat Import Data
If you use the Import Chat feature (Pro), you provide a share link to a conversation on ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. We fetch the publicly available content of that link using an automated browser, convert it to markdown, and return it to you. We do not store the imported conversation data.
2.5 Payment Information
Payments are processed by LemonSqueezy. We never receive or store your credit card number, billing address, or other payment details. We only receive a webhook confirmation of successful subscription events to update your account status.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the Service.
- To authenticate your identity and manage your account.
- To enforce usage limits and manage subscription status.
- To process document conversions and chat imports on your behalf.
- To communicate with you about your account or the Service when necessary.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your account data is stored in a secure Supabase Postgres database with row-level security (RLS) enabled. All communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Temporary files created during document conversion are deleted immediately after the response is sent.
5. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party providers. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

6. Cookies & Local Storage
We use localStorage in your browser to persist your editor content and session tokens. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics services. Supabase may set a session cookie for authentication purposes.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account record (email, subscription status, usage counter) for as long as your account is active. Document content is never retained beyond the duration of a single conversion request. If you delete your account, we will remove your data from our database.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict processing of your data.
- Request data portability.
- Withdraw consent at any time.

9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitute acceptance of the updated policy.
